The rate at which people take their lives by themselves today has become a matter of emergency..

Suicide has become the order of the day like life meant nothing.
Depression is eating up alot of people!

I was thrown up my toes when i heard a nine year old says, "i feel like dying"
Shocked i asked why? He said "i am not good at anything"
I replied without hesitation, "darling, you are good at many things" Trust me, You are the best.

Hey Ma, Hey Sir!
Mind your utterances to your children,
Mind your reaction even at your highest provocation.
Mind how you spread informations about your children.
Mind your comparism.

Depression is REAL.
and OUR Kids are not exempted.

That your child isn't good at school work doesn't make him or her a failure.
That your child is lazy at doing house chores doesnt make him or her a failure.

How do you handle your emotions when your children fail at school work?

God bless the womb that bore me, I failed at many things in life while growing BUT my mother was my comfort, my only source of encouragement, at age fourteen I was a depressed teenager.  I remembered vividly that I had the option of dying with a knife, a poison or an excessive dosage of drugs, which were really not an easy option.I felt I was a complete failure, anyway that was what  I was made to believe about myself, I wanted to die so everyone could leave me alone..

But here i am today bouncing in the Grace of God! (JesusBaby)

How will your 10-15 years, always lock their room door even when you are at home and you will not bother to check up on them in their so called privacy. No wonder your child smokes even under your roof and you don't know.

Go closer to the reserved child and make him or her talk to you. (No matter how reserved children are they seldom needs someone to talk to)
It will amaze you to find out that little children also have things they think about.

The carelessness of some Parents is the reason why some children gets to their grave untimely.

"Thank God its Friday,(TGIF)"
 i thought its only the GROWN UPS that says this till i heard it from a child of eight (8) years with all excitement.

Curiosity led me further!
Why are you happy its Friday? is it because you not gonna be in school tomorrow?
The Kid looked me directly in the eyes and says No Ma, its because My Parents stays at home on Saturdays and on Sundays we all go out for a family dinner!
Mondays to Fridays my parents are busy folks but i understand because they make it up to us on Weekends.
(Really?) Are you saying that this happens every weekend?
"No Ma, when we are not out we are inside together! Its not like my parents don't go out on Saturdays and Sundays at all, just that every one goes and returns early. Also on weekends we do everything together.
I like weekends a lot because its usually fun in my house".

Dear Mom, Dear Dad!

Its Possible that the week days are Hectic. Yes! we understand the chase of Money is for our good, but at least Spare us the two Days over the weekend! Lets get to see you at home, we want to play with you, talk to you, eat with you, we really want to spend time with you. Yes we want to do this!

Hello Dad! Hi Mom! We are in this together

I met him as a new learner in Jss2, he just came into our school few days ago!
The head teacher called a brief meeting to say 'the new student here was brought in with the tag, he knows nothing, hence i want you to teach him like he really knows nothing is that okay?'
Yes Sir, we all echoed in Uniform and left the office.

I went to J.s.s. 2 to have a brief talk with the child who was said to know nothing to gather a brief information about him and of course the home he is coming from.

Name witheld said: My Mother is a Banker and my Father a Business Man, I have no parental care, i was very intelligent at elementary school. I started failing in my 2nd term at Junior secondary school 1, when It became dawn on me that i needed to draw the attention of my parent away from work a little to myself.

It gave them a huge concern when i didn't do well in school but i was shocked they could still neglect me and not show concern. The only concerned my Dad showed was to take me to a more expensive school thinking my former school has fallen below standard. That's why i was brought to this school Ma.

Oh really!
This was really not the best option for the  parents of this child!

Wives, mothers, women, lets take a look at how we feel when our husbands, fiance, begins to show us less attention?
Husbands, fathers, men: lets imagine how we feel when the attention of your wife is no longer on you often times when children sets into the marriage!
If adults feels so bad about been denied attention, how much more a child?

Here is what we are saying!
Not performing up to expectations in school work has a lot to do with the interest of a parent in the academics of the child.
I stand to be corrected: go to schools and ask of the performance of children whose parent takes cautious effort to be part of their growth in school, such kids are either the high fliers or really doing their best to become better because they know their parents are expectant.
Unlike the children who knows that their parents do not care. The only time we see some parents in school is when they come to clear the bills and pick up the receipt and they really do not have any business with the class teacher or head of school, their business is with the finance department.

I am not saying that the total failure of a child should be blame on the parent yet i am not saying it shouldn't be blame on them.

What i am saying is Parents should be actively involve in the school activities of a child. It is important.
